There was a bit of a scuffle for fifth place between Marco Melandri and Leandro Mercado, with the Italian being the victorious of the two. But it was pure heartache for Leon Camier, who had lined up in pole position ahead of race two. After finishing race one in fourth, he appeared to be carrying confidence as he worked his way into third, but technical issues forced him to retire for the sixth time this season. All we can do is hope and pray that the Honda rumours are true, and Camier will compete next season on a reliable machine.

In fact, the Honda is starting to show improvements in the capable hands of Davide Guigliano and Jake Gagne. Yesterday, the Italian achieved an eighth place finish in the wet and today in mostly dry conditions, the pair finished in eleventh and twelfth respectively. Although it is too late for the Honda to achieve anything dramatic, they’re showing that with a little more test time and a bit more work, it could well be a front runner in the championship next year.
